| Eska-Miu, optical fiber for home network backbones |

This is a 500MHz/50m POF developed for IEEE 1394.b home networks. Using our original multi-step structure, we devised a wider range without using GI structure.
Lively discussions are made to standardize this construction in various corporations, due to its affinity with conventional plastic optical fiber and its ease of mass production.

| Characterisitics |

Utilizes Mitsubishi Rayon original multi-step construction.
Since the fiber diameter does not vary greatly from conventional fiber, it can be used in conventional low-speed links.
The only POF recognized as completely compatible with IEEE 1394b S400. (mass production level)
Fiber diameter of 750 micrometers and a core diameter of 700 micrometers are standard.
Currently being studied for standardization in EIAJ home networks.

| Multi-step structure |
| Thiis structure utilizes multiple concentric cores with different refractive indices. Since refraction occurs in steps, this structure's features are extremely similar to GI structure. Due to the ease of continued mass production of this structure, it can be sold at a low price similar to that of SI. Mitsubishi Rayon is already manufacturing a rod lens with similar structure, and is marketing this as an application of that technology. |  |

Eska Miu is still under development.
Deliveries of these products are limited to manufacturers that use JEITA home network standards and semiconductor manufacturers that designed the optical link for the Eska Miu.
