FAQ

This page features other manufacturer's products.
The optical transceiver module consists of transmitter and receiver devices and an optical connector (receptacle) in which both or either devices are built-in.
The transmitter device consists of an LED with an approximate wavelength of 650nm (red light), along with peripheral circuits.
The receiver device consists of pin photodiode and associated circuits.
The optical connectors are generally available in five formats: the JIS-standard simplex F05, the duplex F07, F07(PN) , OMJ(Audio), and SMI which is drawing much attention regading IEEE1394.

F07(PN) was designed in accordacce with ATM Forum standards, which is under discussion at JIS/IEC.

SMI is a small, simplex connector put forward by Sony, Matsushita, and Toshiba.
In addition, OMJ (IEEE1394 type) which enables simplex two-way transmission is announced by Sony and Sharp.
