DAI =
Digital Audio Interface

The Digital Audio Interface, (DAI) is an optical digital interface used in most audio devices today.

Audio is recorded as digital signals, as with MD's and CD's. In order to send these signals by analog, they have to be converted to analog temporarily, and depending on the case, converted back to digital again at the receiving end. During this conversion, the sound quality will drop.
In the conventional analog signal, the cable can be affected by interference, picking up static noise.
A DAI changes the recorded signal to the transmission standard and sends it digitally, so there is no deterioration of the signal, and it is harder for it to pick up noise, thereby providing a clear sound.

This signal can be sent by coaxial cable or a plastic optical fiber.   Currently this is done almost 100% of the time by plastic optical fiber.
This is because by using optical fiber, you are freed from digital noise, and there is no cost increase in converting to optics, making it a user-friendly media.
DAI has spread with the increase of digital audio devices, and there are now audio devices that only have optical terminals.
